DREAM THEATER DVD GOES PLATINUM
(VIDEO) Dream Theater’s latest DVD, Score, has reached the platinum mark for sales…but they’re no stranger to the mark. |
Dream Theater’s latest DVD release, Score, has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. It’s the band’s third video release to be certified platinum. The first two Images & Words/5 Years In A Livetime and Live At Budokan achieved the sales milestone as well. |
Dream Theater said that they had a specific objective with Score: 20th Anniversary World Tour Live with the Octavarian Orchestra. |
“Actually, every time we’ve done a live album, once again it’s about catering to the fans, for me. The setlists have always been written in a way that they’re offering a completely different product each time. So people have said, ‘Oh my god. Another live album from Dream Theater?’ But if you take oru last three live CDs — that’s nine discs worth of material — there’s only a handful of songs that repeat on there. It’s not like the set lists are written because it’s a Greatest Hits or favoriite songs. We’re kind of equal opportunity employers. When I write a set-list it’s real important to have that variety and offer something different from the last time. And that not only applied to the shows themselves, it applies to the CDs and DVDs and every single product that we put out that’s a live product is always offering something completely different that hasn’t been offered before.” |
The DVD was produced by drummer Mike Portnoy and it was filmed April 1 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and it marked the end of their tour. Dream Theater is currently in the studio working on their next studio effort. |
