DONAL LOGUE GOES AFTER PHONY PEACENIKS
Donal Logue based his character in The Ex on weird hippies he met. |
Donal Logue makes fun of phony peaceniks in The Ex playing Zach Braff’s co-worker who is forced to join the 9-5 world when his wife played by Amanda Peet has a baby. |
Donal says he modeled the character after people he’s met with similar qualities. |
“I relate to him in the sense that I’ve met people who have been very mean and then will say Namaste at the end of the sentence you know, these really evil hippies so that was something we thought that we would lampoon together with this character.” |
The Tao of Steve star recalls his encounter with nasty spiritualists. |
“It’s just shocking. I think it’s shocking for most people in life but it’s pretty funny. I remember meeting this group of guys up in Chiang Mai in Thailand and they said that you couldn’t be spiritual in America. You can buy cheap pot here but you can have a pretty spiritual life back in the United States and be nice to your mom and your co-workers and live in Cleveland. But you know, whatever, to each his own.” |
The Ex which also stars Jason Bateman as a wheelchair bound executive who also happens to be Peet’s ex boyfriend opens Friday in theaters. |
