DON CHEADLE CHATS UP TALK RADIO
Talk To Me star Don Cheadle thinks we could use more outspoken announcers in talk radio. |
In the 1960’s there was a radio station DJ in Washington, DC named Petey Green, an ex-con who talked his way onto the airwaves and wasn’t afraid to tell it like it is, paving the way for such outspoken announcers as Howard Stern and Don Imus. |
Don Cheadle who portrays Petey talks about his anti political correctness. |
“Petey could care less about being politic. He could care less about soft pedaling something. He just went straight for what he thought.” |
Don says talk radio could use an announcer like Petey Green today. |
“Petey’s story is very relevant today because I think very few people are willing to stand up and point out what in my estimation have been very clear inequities, inadequacies. The government is not necessarily behaving in a way that’s for most of the people and if we had Petey Green around right now there would be no dirth of material that he would have. He would have years and years of material to talk about. And we just don’t have a populace figure that’s standing out the way Petey Green did.” |
Talk To Me which opens for a limited engagement Friday also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cedric The Entertainer and Martin Sheen. |
