DMX MAKES THE JUMP TO SONY MUSIC
DMX has officially jumped ship. The rapper held a press conference in New York City on Friday, January 13th, to announce that he was signing with Sony Music after releasing severals uccessful albums while signed to Def Jam Records. The rapper’s began his career with Sony Music in the early ’90s but after his first single, “Born Loser,” failed to make an impact, he was dropped. |
At the press conference which was attended by the Ruff Ryders family, DMX said, |
“I feel like Sony cares about music. You knowI feel like Sony appreciates good music and a talented artist. Once again I look forward to belonging to someone’s home and I thank you for having me.” |
The rapper plans to release his new album, Here We Go Again, in May. |
DMX released his quadruple platinum debut, It’s Dark and Hell is Hot, in 1998. Later that same year, the rapper released his quadruple platinum sophomore set, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. In 1999, DMX release his best selling album to date, And Then There Was X, which has sold more than five million copies. The rapper’s last two offerings were 2001’s platinum The Great Depression and 2003’s platinum The Grand Champ. |
