DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN PREPARING DARKER, MORE METAL ALBUM
Dillinger Escape Plan are set to begin recording their upcoming new album “Option Paralysis” and it will be the bands follow up to 2007’s “Ire Works.” The new album will be released on their own label, Phonogetic Records which is an imprint of Season of Mist, after they parted ways with Relapse Records earlier this year. For “Option Paralysis” the band is exploring a darker more classic metal sound and its clear they can’t wait to begin recording their new songs. |
Artisan News caught up with Dillinger Escape Plan to get their thoughts on the new album being a darker more metal album than anything they’ve done in the past and why it’s been cathartic for the band. |
“It’s a lot darker than what we’ve done in awhile, no choice. It’s very dark. It’s still Dillinger but it’s a little more metal. Something about it is a little more classic metal. As far as the vibe. I think too, we’re moving on to a different record label too, so it feels almost cathartic you know. We feel like we’re a little bit off the leash. Yeah a little triumphant feeling. So, it’s almost an anthem. It’s going to be an anthem. We’re turning it up to eleven on this one.” |
Dillinger Escape Plan are currently touring in Europe with dates extending until July 18th in Joensuu, Finland. After the tour Dillinger Escape Plan will head back to America to begin recording. “Option Paralysis” will be produced by Steve Evetts, who has recorded all of the past Dillinger Escape Plan albums and the band plans to release the album in early 2010. |
