DIDDY SCORES LEGAL VICTORY
Sean “Diddy” Combs was vindicated this week when the New York State Appeals Court affirmed a lower court’s decision to throw out a $25 million racketeering lawsuit filed against him by former Bad Boy Records president Kirk Burrowes. Combs’ lawyer Benjamin Brafman told the New York Post, “The whole thing was a complete fabrication. We are gratified with the Appellate Division’s unanimous decision. This is a perfect example of how vulnerable celebrities are to the filing of lawsuits that don’t have any merit.” |
In the lawsuit, Burrowes accused Combs of cheating him out of his stake in Bad Boy Entertainment in 1996. The suit specifically accused Combs of bursting into Burrowes’ office in 1996 and brandishing a baseball bat to intimidate Burrowes into signing over his twenty-five percent stake in Bad Boy. |
Burrowes said that Diddy later apologized and said he’d make good on their original deal, but never did. Burrowes also accused Combs of causing Mary J. Blige to fire him as her manager. |
