Depeche Mode celebrated the release of their new album, Playing The Angel, with a special in-store in New York City on Tuesday (October 18). The band was on hand to greet the throngs of fans who lined up around Tower records to get the new album signed by Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher and Dave Gahan. |
Depeche Mode has been a band now for close to twenty-six years, and in an interview conducted previously Dave Gahan talked about what keeps the band together. |
“Actually, probably thinking about it, our music has never really sounded very English. In the past it was more industrial sounding and not your sort of English sounding pop music. Probably, that’s got something to do with it. And for a while that worked in our favor in America because we were like the oddball English band, you know. But we’ve always been that kind of band that’s not really fit in. We don’t really fit. We don’t really fit in with our personalities together to be honest. We’re three very different personalaties.” |
We asked some of those who waited to meet and greet Depeche Mode what they thought on the new album. One group said they thought the album, led by the first single, “Precious,” was awesome. |
Another fan would “compare it to their last album, Exciter, because the earlier stuff was synth pop.” She also said that she sees a considerable evolution with the band. |
Depeche Mode kicks off their tour November 2 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but before that they’ll play a special show in NYC on October 26. |
