DENIS LEARY RETURNS TO RESCUE ME

The season three premiere of Rescue Me blared onto the streets of New York as the stars of the show arrived atop Ladder 62 at the Ziegfeld Theater. Co-creator, executive producer and star Denis Leary who plays firefighter Tommy Gavin says it was a little hairy for his co-star Andrea Roth negotiating the ladder in stilettos.

Denis promises a couple of huge shockers and plenty of laughs in the first four episodes but he says there is a poignant story line that involves the anniversary of 9/11.

“It can be a little scary on top. It’s a very powerful truck and it’s brand new pretty much so it’s got a lot of kick to it. I always get concerned when girls with high heels get on top of fire trucks. I know it sounds sexy and it looks sexy when you’re up there but if you take the wrong turn at the wrong time it’s kind of dangerous but other than you know it’s fun.”

Rescue Me premieres Tuesday May 31 at 10PM on FX.

“There’s a couple of really huge shockers in the first four episodes and then there’s some really funny stuff and some really heavy stuff. That’s the nature of our show. You’re laughing one minute, you’re in shock the next and then you’re crying by the end of it. It’s going to be an interesting ride. It’ll be interesting to see how the audience reacts to some of the stuff we’re doing this year. The real problem for all the characters on the show this year is that about nine episodes in the chief reminds them they have to make plans for the fifth anniversary of 9/11 and they didn’t realize it had been that long so that’s kind of looming over them but at the same time there’s some really really funny stuff.”
