DEFTONES BAND AND CHINO AT WAR WITH EACH OTHER THROUGH NEW EFFORT
The Deftones are set to release their 5th studio album On October 31st titled ‘Saturday Night Wrist.’ |
Although most Deftones album are a combination of blood, sweat and tears, bassist Chi Cheng admitted this album was almost the demise of the band. |
“It was painful as F**k. Thank god it’s done because it was long and arduous. Every Deftones album is blood, sweat and tears but this one was a lot of blood.” |
Although the demise of the band perhaps was a little premature and we might not know the real extent of the riff, Cheng talked openly recently about the bands latest single, ‘Hole in the Earth’ being an inspired by the fighting within the band during the recording of ‘Saturday Night Wrist.’ |
“The inspiration for the song ‘Hole in the Earth’ you know what that song is about Chino being really pissed at the band because we were really pissed at him. He kept not getting the album done for a long time and we threatened to disband then. So, he comes back with this song ‘I hate all my friends’ and we were like good. You can say I hate Chi Cheng, just finish the album.” |
The Deftones have finished filming the video for ‘Hole in the Earth’ and the band has recently announced a small run of club dates in support of the release of ‘Saturday Night Wrist.’ The run will kick off October 29th in Tempe, Arizona and extend until November 14th in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Look for the band to announce more dates shortly. |
