DAX DOES PRISON TIME
Dax Shepard stars in Let’s Go To Prison as a career criminal who can’t wait to exact revenge on the judge who put him away only to find he’s died of a heart attack when he gets released. Instead he turns his rage towards the judge’s son. Dax did his homework by watching his fill of prison movies. |
Filming in an actual prison also educated Dax on the day to day activities of the inmates who are incarcerated there. |
“As we started filming I went and got five or six movies that were classic prison movies and it was apparent when I was watching all prison movies kind of share the same structure of showing up, being harassed by the other convicts, getting your cell, first day in the cafeteria, all these things that are really prototypical prison structures. We have all those scenes so it does have this real prison feel but it is a comedy hopefully, maybe not. Maybe by the time this gets out on DVD we’ve won for best picture, me for best dramatic actor.” |
Next Dax is set to star with Diane Keaton playing his overbearing mother who moves into his happy home married to Liv Tyler in Smother. |
“It’s weird because again my own exposure to prison is through movies and TV. I know that there’s two million prisoners incarcerated but the reality of it, it doesn’t hit you until you’re in here they didn’t build this place to make movies. This isn’t a joke; dudes really lived the better part of their lives in here, died in here, made sweet sweet love to one another in here.” |
