DAVID GRAY NUMBER ONE IN SLOW MOTION
(VIDEO) David Gray notched his second Number One album in the U.K. when Life In Slow Motion hit Number One a few weeks back. Catch his reaction on camera…here! |
David Gray’s new album, Life In Slow Motion, has dropped out of the Number One slot in the U.K., but the singer/songwriter is pleased that he’s been able to reach the top for the second time now. |
In the U.S., Gray’s album has dipped a bit to Number 46, and in the U.K. it’s currently at Number Two. We asked David about having Life In Slow Motion come in at Number One. |
“Yeah, it’s great. It’s really a strange thing when you sort of expect that kind of thing. That that’s the way it gets when you’ve had it before and you put all the effort into the album and rev up for the whole thing and that’s what you want to happen. So, it’s never as much fun as the first time.” |
David Gray’s Life In Slow Motion is his first since A New Day At Midnight. Gray made himself a household name with the 1999 album, White Ladder, which featured the song “Babylon” among others. |
“This time I think it meant a lot to me actually. I don’t really admit these things to myself, but it did. You’re not going to be having Number One records forever and. I sense the amount of work we’ve put into this record and the promoting of it and the launching of it, it’s like running to stand still. And I think that at a certain point we’ll all just want to take things a little bit easier. So you know these days aren’t going to last forever. I feel very priviledged, really, to have had as much success as I’ve had over the last few years, and this time, yeah, I did relish it a bit.” |
Gray is currently touring the U.S., in support of the album’s first single, “The One I Love,” and he’ll return to the U.K. in late November for an early winter tour. |
