DAVID GAHAN OF DEPECHE MODE WORKING ON SOLO ALBUM
David Gahan is once again working on a solo album and he discusses the on going project right here. |
David Gahan, lead vocalist for the ground breaking synth driven band Depeche Mode, is currently in the studio working on material for his up coming solo album. Gahan released his first solo album ‘Paper Monsters’ in 2003 and this album will once again feature collaborations with Andrew Philpott and Depeche Mode drummer Christian Eigner. |
We caught up with David Gahan recently to discuss the on going project and when he thinks the album might be done. |
“I’m actually working on a record. I’ve been writing and recording with Andrew Philpott and Christian Eigner, who actually plays drums in Depeche. It’s been going really well. I’m hoping to be finished in late summer and maybe get the record out by the end of the year.” |
We also asked David if he could describe the music on the as of yet unfinished album. |
“Not at the moment. We’re producing it ourselves and we’re kind of putting it out there at the moment to find someone to mix it. We want someone different to mix it. It’s difficult to describe right now. It’s a different way of writing. It’s a real joint effort.” |
It’s no secret David Gahan has been trying to be more of a song writer with Depeche Mode and after many years of trying to bring his songs to the studio, Dave wrote three songs on 2005’s Playing the Angel. The three songs Gahan contributed were “Suffer Well”, “I Want It All” and “Nothing’s Impossible”. Look for Gahan to have his upcoming album done by the end of the year and hopefully a tour will be soon to follow. For 2003’s solo tour supporting ‘Paper Monsters’ Gahan’s band included Knox Chandler on guitar, Martyn LeNoble (Porno for Pyros, Jane’s Addiction, The Cult) on bass, Vincent Jones (Sarah McLachlan) on keyboards, and Victor Indrizzo (Beck, Macy Gray) on drums. |
