DAVID BANNER MAY BE LEAVING SRC RECORDS
David Banner may be looking for a new label home. The rapper is allegedly on the outs with SRC Records after the label failed to push his latest album, Certified, to the gold mark although the rapper scored a Top Ten single, “Play.” Banner signed a landmark $10 million deal with Steve Rifkind’s SRC label in 2002 and he was poised to be the label’s marquee act. |
The rapper’s 2003 debut, Mississippi: The Album, was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies but it’s follow-up, MTA2: Baptized In Dirty Water, came and went without much fanfare. |
“You know it’s highly competitive and you know us being rappers is similar to being you know a professional basketball or football player because we’re so competitve with each other, you know what I’m sayin’?
