DAVE NAVARRO TUNES TO PANIC CHANNEL
(VIDEO) Dave Navarro has joined with longtime drummer Stephen Perkins for Panic Channel, and he talked about his new musical project. |
Dave Navarro is set to release the debut album titled “(One)” by his new outfit, The Panic Channel, on August 15. The band features what essentially amounts to the most recent incarnation of Jane’s Addiction, minus Perry Farrell — including Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Chaney. |
Fronting the band is Steve Isaacs, and he joined Navarro in an interview with us to talk about the name of the new outfit. |
[Dave] “The name, The Panic Channel, actually came from a couple of different places. One is it just sounds cool and it looks cool. Two is that it’s kind of a commentary on the state of the media right now with the hysteria and panic and fear and chaos that gets shoved down everybody’s throat all the time through the different outletts. It’s kind of a kick in the face of the media a little bit. And Steve can you tell us about the other version?” [Steve] “You’ve got the positive connotation where the word channel implies that when you’re in a room and you’re making music with people, or even if you’re home alone and you’re writing something or you’re painting something, you’re channeling other forces. It’s something that we acknowledge and we’re kind of saying, ‘Thank You’ to whatever forces help you get into that creative space.” [Dave] “He speaks the truth, by the way.” |
Panic Channel latest single is “Why Cry,” and the band’s song “Teahouse Of The Spirits” will be included in the new video game Madden NFL 07. The game hits stores August 22. The Panic Channel will tour in the fall, but one date has been announced on October 7 — a benefit show as part of the Hard Rock Cafe’s 35th Anniversary Ambassadors of Rock Tour. |
