DAUGHTRY GETS LIFT FROM SLASH
Chris Daughtry’s new album, the simply titled, Daughtry has made it’s way to Number One, thanks to Slash who contributes guitar work to the album. |
Chris Daughtry’s latest album, simply titled, Daughtry, has finally reached the Number One spot after nearly three months on the chart. The album debuted at Number 2, but surfaced at the top due to one of the weakest 7 day periods in 15 years of measuring sales. The album sold 65,000 copies which was remarkably good enough for Number One, just ahead of the Dreamgirls soundtrack. |
American Idol finalist Daughtry, who is on RCA, had some help from label mate Slash, who added guitar work on the song “What I Want.” The former Guns N’ Roses star talked about the contribution. |
“That was basically a favor to the record company because he signed with RCA and the asked me if I’d put a guitar solo on this song that he had done. I said, ‘I’m busy with Velvet Revolver right now,’ and they said, ‘No, can you just do us this favor?,’ and I said ‘OK.’ I met Chris. He’s a really good guy, and he’s a great singer and I just put the guitar in there and that was it.” |
Daughtry is set to hit the road starting Sunday, January 28, in Anaheim, California. Meanwhile, Velvet Revolver is done recording their new effort, currently titled Libertad, and they’re aiming for a March release. |
