DAUGHTRY DOES SEVENDUST
Chris Daughtry, whose band came off several Grammy nominations, and a platinum release, talked about teaming with heavy rock icons Sevendust. |
Chris Daughtry had a monstrous 2007 scoring Grammy nominations, two bona-fide hit singles, “It’s Not Over” and “Home,” and a platinum debut album. Now he’s ready to give back to one of his favorite bands, Sevendust. Daughtry appears on the song titled, “The Past” on their forthcoming album Hope & Sorrow, which drops April 1. |
Daughtry told us about how the collaboration came about. |
“You know what? We’ve did some shows together this summer, and I’ve been a huge fan of them ever since they came out. I come to find out they were huge fans of us, and we were both dying to meet each other, and then we met up and we were like two giddy schoolgirls, me, Lajon, and Morgan. And then we just kept in touch and just hung out when we could. It was just a mutual friendship and love for each other’s work. They asked me to sing on the record, and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?'” |
He also shared his thoughts about doing the song. |
“So, yeah, it was a great experience going in there and doing the tune, and everybody’s going to be really, really happy with it. It turned out great.” |
Sevendust will perform this summer on the Mayhem Festival with headliners Slipknot and Disturbed along with Dragonforce, Mastodon, Airbourne, Five Finger Death Punch and more. Meanwhile, Daughtry’s latest single, “Over You,” has just been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. |
