DARYL HALL BRINGS OVER HIS FRIENDS FOR LIVE AT DARYLS HOUSE
Darrl Hall, having recently been recognized by BMI with an Icon Award for his amazing career with Hall and Oates, continues to bring in special musical guests from a wide range of musical genres for his monthly webcast called Live From Daryl’s House. What started as a simple idea by Daryl has turned into an online sensation featuring Hall playing music with his friends at his house. So far, the show has had appearances by Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy and KT Tunstall as well as a holiday special featuring songs from the Daryl Hall and John Oates release, Home for Christmas. |
We caught up with Daryl Hall recently to get his thoughts on ‘Live at Daryl’s House’ and what fans can expect from the monthly webcasts. |
“Live from Daryl’s House is sort of a brain child. You know I just said we’ve been touring a long time and I thought that it would be interesting to bring the world literally into my world. You know I write in a very personal way and what’s more personal than going to your own house, right? It’s the physical manifestation of my music. I’m working with a lot of different musicians and it’s been very, very interesting to put different kinds of musicians into situations and see what’s going to happen. I’ve done it with a lot of people, Nick Lowe I did one with, which isn’t out yet and KT Tunstall, Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heros, a guy named Chuck Prophet which was really interesting and another with a new songwriter Mutlu. A lot of different people and everybody is different in their own way and it’s all coming out great and I highly recommend you watching it.” |
Hall & Oates recently performed two sold out shows at The Troubadour in Hollywood, California and the duo plan to release the performance on an upcoming DVD. Hall & Oates have sold more albums than any other duo in music history with hits ranging from “Sara Smile”, “Rich Girl”, “Kiss on My List”, “Private Eyes”, “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)” and “Maneater.” |
