DARRYL MCDANIELS OF RUN DMC HELPS HARD ROCK AND MUSICIANS ON
Hard Rock kicked off their March on Stage series for 2008 and DMC talks about the healing power of Musicians on Call |
The Hard Rock Cafe kicked off their March On Stage campaign Feb 26th, 2008 with a concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, California and the benefit show which was hosted by Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC featured performances by Emerson Hart, Sons of William, Griffin House, and Eric Hutchinson. March On Stage events continue in March and April at Hard Rock Cafes across the continent and Hard Rock International has selected Musicians On Call as the North American partner for their campaign. Throughout the next 2 months, Hard Rock Cafes across the continent are hosting concerts and donating proceeds to Musicians on Call. Musicians On Call, which is a nonprofit organization formed in 1999, brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities as it uses music to promote and complement the healing process for patients, families and caregivers. |
We caught up with the MC for the night, Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC to get his thoughts on the importance of Musicians on Call. |
“Well I love doing things for Hard Rock because they’re about the music and they’re about the people. Musicians on Call is amazing because what they’re doing is they’re taking music, which has healing powers. Like they say music calms the savage beast, well music also has a healing power to it. So what they do is they take the music to the bed sides of patients in medical facilities. And let me tell you something, music is an awesome force on the face of the earth. The reason why I roll with Hard Rock is because it’s about the music and above all things it’s about the people that listen to the music. So they for real.” |
You can check out Musiciansoncall.org to check their upcoming schedule of events or to make a donation. Look for DMC’s upcoming album to be released in the Summer of 2008. Travis Barker is just one of the guests slated to perform on the album. |
