Grammy Award winning Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley has learned many things from his father, the legendary Bob Marley. One of the most important things Bob has taught Damian is the true power of music. As Damian’s career is sky rocketing on the success of his latest release, ‘Welcome to Jamrock,’ and much talked about performances at Coachella and Bonnaroo, it’s the lessons his father taught him that he carries with him on the road. We caught up with the youngest of Bob Marleys sons to talk about the power of music and how it can break down social barriers and bring many different people together. |
Damian swept the 25th annual Reggae and World Music Awards taking home all 6 awards that he was nominated for! This has been quite an break through year for Damian as he prepares his band for the summer European Festival run and an upcoming tour supporting Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. “Well in regards to the power of music, first the most important thing that my father has taught people is that music really helps to bring all different walks of life together. You know, different cultures, different races and different class. You know, economical barriers and things like that. It helps bring them together. Music is a universal language, you know what I mean.” |
