CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR, ALMOST MISSED FUELED BY RAMEN MARK
Cute Is What We Aim For might just be the next big Fueled By Ramen band, following in the footsteps of Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy. The band released their new album, The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch, and the band was one that Fueled By Ramen co-founder wouldn’t let get away. |
Cute Is What We Aim For singer Shaant got the call from the Janick, and he told us he hung up on him. |
“We put our songs online and six months later after conceiving the band, the band’s conception, John Janick from Fueled By Ramen called me when we were in Baltimore rush our traffic, on our first tour that was very crappy, and he said — it was pretty crappy, well OK it was a cool experience — but he calls me and goes, ‘Hi, this is John Janick from Fueled By Ramen,’ and I hung up on him straight up because I was just like, ‘No, it isn’t this can’t be him.’ He calls me back, and I’m like, ‘Oh, Sorry.'” |
If the hang-up didn’t deter Janick, neither could one of the band’s worst shows on record. Shaant explained: |
“We just got to talking, met him in Florida, played the worst show of our lives, instrument cables falling all over left and right. I for sure thought he was done with us and didn’t want anything to do with us, went to the office the next day on an off day, and a month and a half later we were signed. So, it just kind of happened.” |
While doing everything they unintentionally could from being signed to Fueled By Ramen, the band inked the deal and never looked back. The first single is “There Is A Class For This,” and the band is promoting the album on tour through November 27 in Bakersfield, California. |
