CURIOSA FESTIVAL ON SALE THIS WEEKEND
The Cure’s festival, Curiosa, kicks off July 24, but tickets for the event go on sale on Saturday (July 12). For the first time Ticketmaster, who are selling the tickets, will offer a CD purchase option. |
Concert buyers will have the opportunity to pre-order the deluxe version of the Cure’s self-titled record with their concert purchase. Fans who purchase the CD by this method will also get a limited edition button set. The charge for the DVD will be conveniently added to the price of the ticket, giving fans a chance for one stop shopping. |
“A lot of the words on the record are very personal, and it’s like there was a lot of high emotion, actually, when we recorded it, and I think that has translated. A lot of people often bang on about it saying, ‘it’s captured.’ The way Ross [Robinson] recorded, as well, everthing was old. It was all old technology. We used an EMI desk that they did [Pink Floyd’s] Dark Side Of The Moon on. We borrowed it from Mike Hedges, who did our early albums, and he owns three of them. He gave us one to use and, like, we used all really old mics.” |
Robert Smith, vocalist for the Cure, said the “The End Of The World,” the first single from the self-titled album, was made with a dose of history and a dose of healthy emotion. |
“The End Of The World” is currently climbing the Modern Rock chart and is well inside the Top 30 in the country. |

The Curiosa festival runs through August 27, wrapping up in Los Angeles. Other artists appearing on the festival include Interpol, the Rapture, Mogwai, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Thursday, Muse and others. |
