CONSEQUENCE FINALLY RELEASES SOLO DEBUT
Rapper Consequence, who was briefly a member of a Tribe Called Quest for the group’s 1996 album, Beats, Rhymes & Life, has been signed to Elektra Records, Relativity Records, and Rawkus Records as a solo artist but some reason or another has never released a solo project until this week . On Tuesday (March 6th), Consequence released his debut album, Don’t Quit Your Day Job, on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label which is distributed by Sony Records. The album features guest appearances by Kanye West and John Legend. |
The rapper explained why he decided to use Consequence as his rap name. He said, |
“I had a few other rap names but once I really got into it I really wanted a name that represented and described what I gave off to my audience and what I gave off as an MC. And I thought that Consequence because it meant the result of a action, I felt like my raps were the …I was the Consequence of what I, of my surroundings, of what I talked about and rapped about as an MC.” |
The latest single from the project is “Callin Me.” The video features the rapper’s animated mascot who is called Lil Consequence. |
