CONGRESSWOMAN INTRODUCES BILL TO RELEASE TUPAC FILES
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-Georgia) introduced HR 4210 last week in Congress which calls “for the expeditious disclosure of records relevant to the life and death of Tupac Amaru Shakur.” McKinney like several others believes that Shakur was under government surveillance the night he was shot and killed in Las Vegas, Nevada in September 1996. The Washington Times reports that the bill has been referred to the Committee on Government Reform and Committee on Rules for a period that will be determined by the House speaker. |
McKinney’s proposed bill calls for “the creation of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Records Collection at the National Archives; and a second repository at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia.” |
Tupac Amaru Shakur Center was opened last June by Shakur’s mother Afeni Shakur from the proceeds of his posthumous releases and MTV Films documentary. |
