COMMON LIGHTS UP SCREEN IN NEW MOVIE

Common coolly lights up screen in big screen debut, Smokin’ Aces…Next up a role opposite Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe…..

Common officially made the jump to acting with his role int he new movie, Smokin Aces. The film raked in $14.6 million its opening weekend in theaters and continues to perform well. Common explains the role he plays int he new movie. He said,

Smokin’ Aces also stars Jeremy Piven, Andy Garcia, Ray Liotta, Ben Affleck, and Taraji Henson.

” I play Sir Ivy and Sir Ivy is a bodyguard but also second in command to Jeremy Piven’s character whose name is Buddy Israel. In this movie, all these people are coming to attack. They’re coming to assassinate Buddy Israel because he flipped on the mob. He really wasn’t a mob type of guy. He was a entertainer, a Frank Sintara type of dude. He ended up turning on them so you got all these assassins from Alicia Keys to Ben Affleck whose not even an assassin but he’s after him. It’s like everybody after Buddy and I’m on his team. It’s good though, fun.”

Common, who is also working on his new album , Finding Forever, recently completed work on another film, American Gangster. The film stars Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, RZA, and T.I. The film is slated to hit theaters next winter.

On the musical side, Common will release Finding Forever in May. The rapper will leak a single, “Southside” featuring Kanye West, in the coming weeks.
