The comic book fanatics were out in full force at New York Comic Con parading around the Javits Center as their favorite super hero or comic book character. The weekend designed to bring exhibitors, creators and talent all under one roof was teaming with energy and excitement especially when the enthusiastic fans finally met their idols. |
The Sci-fi channel Battlestar Galactica had their stars Tricia Helfer and James Callis on hand to meet and greet their number one fans in an open discussion relating stories of their favorite fan encounters. James who plays the scientist Gaius Baltar says every fan is different. |
“I mean the people in the states when I went to Atlanta, people are very effusive and some people didn’t want my autograph, they wanted a hug. ‘Give me some love, buddy. Give me some love’ and liked their hugs. I went straight from Atlanta to Toronto where as you know Canadians are very different to Americans even though you’re right next to each other. But at this convention people were like, ‘hello, it’s very nice to meet you’ and I’m like ‘do they actually want me to be here.’ The difference was huge.” |
Former Playboy poser Tricia Helfer who plays Cylon operative Number Six has a much more intimate fan base. |
“On my own time I mean a few people are starting to know what I look like without the wig. But generally on my own time I don’t really get approached on the street. And I find at conventions most people are really respectful. I’ve had a couple of people in England actually that just tried to kiss me. I’m like, ‘wow dude I’m married.’ But all in all everybody is pretty respectful and I haven’t had any craziness.” |
Also at Comic Con, Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee lectured on the making of Spider Man and the Fantastic Four and horror master Stephen King welcomed his legion of loyal followers unveiling Marvel comic book’s rendition of The Dark Tower- The Gunslinger Born. |
