COLLECTIVE SOUL IS COLLECTIVE SOLE FOR KENNETH COLE
On Wedensday, March 8, Collective Soul, famous for its 90s hits “Shine” and “The World I Know” among others, played a special charity/private party at the Kenneth Cole store in Rockefeller Plaza. The band soundchecked before the store closing at 5:30 for the event. |
Collective Soul formed their own label after parting ways with Atlantic and released the album, From The Ground Up, in 2005. The band followed that with a DVD. Dean Roland, oine half of brother combination that powers the band, told us how the band got involved with Kenneth Cole. |
“Um, I’m not really sure exactly how…what connections brought us together, but we’ve been fans of Kenneth Cole for as long as I remember and we had the opportunity to do a store opening a little while back. And this charity event came up and we jumped on it.” |
Brother Ed Roland compared doing a show in a retail store to one of the band’s concerts. |
“It’s a little quieter, you know, it’s a little more acoustic. Usually it’s a party, it’s a gathering so you don’t want to overtake, volume wise, conversation. So you knind of more or less sit in the bacground. Background music is what we are.” |
After working the road hard supporting From The Ground Up and their Home DVD, the band will take some time off and focus on their next record. |
