COLD STOP TO DRINKING HABIT LEADS TO PAIN
The biggest challenge in getting Cold’s new album, A Different Kind Of Pain, done was in having singer Scooter Ward clean up his act. The band’s was faced with switching labels, losing a guitarist and having to re-invent their music, but it was Ward kicking the bottle that really made the album come to life.< |
The band was asked what the biggest obstcle as in getting the album done and Ward flat out admitted it was conquering his alcohol addiction. |
“Me becoming sober and being postivive about everything and just living in the now and just focusing on what we needed to do and just clairty, you know?” |
So what led to Ward’s realization that the bottle wasn’t the answer? He said it was being faced with his own mortality. |
“Oh it was easy. It was was either die or become a better person. So, it was easy. I had no problem doing it. It wasn’t a traumatic experience where it took months or whatever. I was like, ‘I’m tired of living that way.’ So, I just woke up one morning and decided to change my life.” |
Cold once again find themselves switching labels, from Lava to Atlantic. A Different Kind Of Pain is the band’s first album since 2003’s Year Of The Spider. The band is on a headline tour to support the album and its first single “Happens All The Time.” |
