COBRA STARSHIP IS NUMBER ONE NEW ARTIST

(VIDEO) Cobra Starship is the Number One new artist….

Cobra Starship has attained Number One status: that is if you take a gander at the new artists chart. The band’s While The City Sleeps We Rule The Streets, has entered into the chart at Number One, and previously the song “Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)” hit Number One on the singles based Alternative New Artist chart.

While The City Sleeps We Rule The Streets has a New York City flavor to it, but singer/songwriter Gabe Saporta revealed that he was only writing about the environment he knows.

“This is where I live, so for me, I wanted to represent… I wanted to capture — While the City Sleeps We Rule The Streets, that’s basically I wanted to capture living my life in New York for the last five years and going out and partying and all the stuff that happens all the characters I meet, different personalities that I have to deal with, and the things you see with people. It’s definitely a very New York record I’m glad you said that, but I didn’t want to… Again, how do you capture those things without trying contrive it, without being, like, ‘Yo, I’m representing New York City!’ You know? It’s like, this is my version of New York, and it’s probably very different from someone else’s version, but…”

Cobra Starship recently performed at the Bamboozle Left festival in California, and next up for the band are dates with 30 Seconds To Mars.
