Saporta immediately was approached by makers of the hit movie Snakes On A Plane, and Saporta was at the ready. Now that the single, and the movie, have taken off it was time for Saporta to assemble a band, but before he could turn around his label Atlantic Records wanted an album, which he hopes to produce soon. At the WEA post-VMA bash, he talked about the genesis of the band and on having to put together a band on quick notice.

“‘Snakes On A Plane’, Cobra Starship, it’s like destiny and all of the sudden I realized, ‘Gee it all makes sense.’ I had my faith in a cobra that bit me, and I put faith in him and he came to life and all that s–t came together. All of the sudden I put ‘Bring It’ make it work for Snakes On A Plane, bring my boy William from Academy Is… bring my boy Travis from Gym Class Heroes, and Maja from The Sounds, came together worked on the song, and the song takes off. Allof the suddden the song takes off, I have like forty songs I had been working on, and I have like three weeks to finish the record. They’re like, ‘OK, the song is great, now you have to get a record done in three weeks,’ So all of the sudden I find these dudes and these dudes join the band, we got the whole thing together. The past four weeks of our lives have been insane.”

Cobra Starship will be out on the road supporting “Snakes On A Plane (Bring It),” and they’re on tour with Patent Pending and Gym Class Heroes. It starts September 14 in Buffalo, New York.
