CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE, KRISTINA SKY HELP GIANT GO ABOVE AND BEYOND IN 2010
Los Angeles nightlife staple Giant returned with yet again with New Year’s Eve celebration in 2010 by taking over the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and turning into, Giant Hotel 2010. After taking over the city streets for the past few New Years Eve, the acclaimed event returned to the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles where it last took place with Giant Venture in 2003. To ring in 2010 Giant featured world class DJ’s like British electronica group Above & Beyond, techno and trance icon Christopher Lawrence, Cosmic Gate and Kristina Sky along with an out door poolside house stage presented by Deep, with featured deep house artists Miguel Migs, Marques Wyatt, Boris M.D. and Ryan Sage. |
Just after performing at Giant Hotel until 12am and just before flying to San Francisco to close down another New Years event, Above & Beyond’s Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki caught up with Artisan News to share their thoughts on performing at Giant Hotel on New Years 2010. |
Above & Beyond were spinning cuts from their latest album “Anjunabeats Volume 7” which showcases the best music from their respected Anjunabeats imprint, one of the world’s premier trance and progressive house labels, among other selections from their massive catalog. In October of 2009 DJ Magazine announced the results of their annual Top 100 DJ Poll, with Above & Beyond placing #4 for the second year in a row. |
“I mean personally for me, New Years Eve is always one of those nights where it’s always an anti climax, so I think our job is to make sure it’s a climax. I think we just treated it like a normal night to by honest and tried to play some of the big tunes through the year as well in our set so that’s what differenciates it really. I think for me, the thing about playing a New Years Eve anywhere is it feels like such a priveledge. All these people are coming here to share this special night with us so that really is what makes New Years so special. They have so many other things they really could do and they choose to come here and party with us. I just wish 2009 never ended.” |
