CHRIS ROCK ROLLS WITH CAMERA

I Think I Love My Wife is Chris Rock’s second venture into feature film directing and for the most part he kept the camera rolling, frequently on the scenes where he could improvise to make them funnier. |
During the scene where Chris is shopping for what he thinks is sexy lingerie with his movie wife played by Gina Torres, he takes off on a riff about oversized undies, some which made the cut and some which didn’t. |
“In any scene that was funny there were a lot of attempts to make it funnier. So the scene in the lingerie shop you know it’s from the Latifah Collection, it’s from the Al Roker Collection, it’s from the Star Jones Collection. It was like from a million collections.” |
Another scene which needs no introduction involves a little blue pill. |
“The famous Viagra scene. The Viagra scene was really kind of shot. We don’t have a lot. I mean the situation’s funny. You don’t even have to act funny in the scene. It’s one of those scenes where the straighter we play it, the funnier it gets. It works like a charm that Viagra scene.” |
I Think I Love My Wife was produced by Rock’s company Zahrlo named for his daughters Zahra and Lola. |
