CHRIS CORNELL ALBUM COMES INTO FOCUS, DONE WITH AUDIOSLAVE
Chris Cornell will release his new solo album, Carry On, May 1 on Suretone distributed by Interscope. Cornell was encouraged to continue the solo path when his song “You Know My Name” was used for the lead track for the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale. |
Cornell talked about writing the standout track, which was a Top 10 hit in Europe, with soundtrack composer David Arnold. |
“We were sitting in a room kind of trying to figure out how to end the chorus lyric, because what I has written I didn’t particularly like. And then he came up with several different things. We both did, and then ‘You Know My Name’ came up. I sort of thought about it silently for about ten seconds, and we both thought, ‘Hmm. That sounds perfect.'” |
Other songs on Cary On include “Safe And Sound,” “Scar In The Sky,” and “Finally Forever,” plus a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.” |
Meanwhile, Cornell, who once fronted the powerful Soundgarden, announced that Audioslave is over. In a statement Cornell said, “Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors.” The members of Audioslave — Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, and Tim C. — have already rejoined Zach De La Rocha in Rage Against The Machine.
