CHIODOS METAL BALLET?
Chiodos is hard at work recording their new effort titled Bone Palace Ballet, according to the band’s website. The new effort will be an evolution for the group, delving more into the metal part of their musical sensibilities. |
We caught up with drummer Derrick Frost who talked about the direction of the new album. |
“I think the approach that is different about it is the fact that we’re taking the time to record demos. Then we’ll listen to them a while and we’re like, ‘OK, I don’t like this, I like this…’ The way we structure things is the same way, but other than that just taking more time on it, and especially since we haven’t written anything in two years it’s nice to refresh why you play music. It’s good to write new stuff. There’s so many ideas flowing that you don’t know what to use and what not to use. So I think for a more epic feel, and a more spacey in-your face feel as well too. That’s where we’re at right now with this album I think. It constantly keeps changing.” |
Frost also talked about playing metal as a drummer. |
“Very spacey, but yet like Heavy Metalish. Not heavy metal, but heavy metal parts. Oh my god that sounds bad, but however way you put it together, but that’s more of who we are as people. So that’s basically more epic, more spacey, harder, softer. We’ve basically been working on a rock opera song, and it’s like…Have you ever heard Children Of Bodom? You know how they have the dueling keyboard and guitarist? That’s what we’re kind of getting on this one song we’re working on right now. The rhythm, the bass and the drums are doing downbeat notes with fills in between, but the keyboards and guitars are just doing the craziest things.” |
Chiodos will be returning to the road this summer as part of the Warped Tour starting June 29 at the Pomona Fairgrounds in Pamona, California. |
