St.Louis-based rapper Chingy is busy in the studio working on his new album, Hood Star, which will be released early next year. So far the album features the production of Mannie Fresh, Timbaland, Marley Marl, and Sanchez with a guest appearance by Young City. The rapper plans to leak a teaser single from the project in December.

Chingy’s 2003 debut album, Jackpot, sold over three million copies but its follow-up 2004’s Powerballin sold a disappointing one million copies. Chingy couldn’t explain what went wrong but he’s definitely moving past it. He said,

“You know what I don’t really know what happened with the project. We came out with a single and a remix. It went over gold, platinum now I believe. This, this, and that was just messed up. But, you know what I’m sayin, we passed that and Hood Star is coming out so it’s all good.”
