CHICKENFOOT TO PERFORM FREE SHOW AT ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME

Rock Supergroup Chickenfoot are already getting rave reviews on their current European Tour and the band, which consists of Ex Valen Halen alums Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith and guitar wizard Joe Satriani, will look to bring their tour to North America beginning August 2nd in Canada. In fact one date definitely circled on Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony’s tour itinerary will be a free show at The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH on August 15th, 2009. Although both Hagar and Anthony were inducted into The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 with Van Halen, since Eddie and Alex Van Halen were no shows, the band never performed at their induction. So while bands like R.E.M. and Velvet Revolver performed Van Halen songs, both Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony were left wondering what might have been. |
Artisan News caught up with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony to get their thoughts on looking back at their bittersweet induction in 2007. |
“You know it was a pretty bittersweet thing for me. It was uncomfortable. It was. It was one of the greatest nights you know, one of the biggest accolades a person in the business can have. To be recognized for everything that we’ve done. I remember turning to Sammy, I think R.E.M. was playing and we were going ‘Man, it should have been us.’ It could have been. Like the way Metallica did it this last year, they brought both bass players. The brought the father of the bass player that died, Cliff you know and they all played together. That’s the way you’re supposed to do it at an event like that. So, it wasn’t cool, I don’t care what anybody says I’ll dog those guys the rest of my life for not doing that but for me not to be there or Mike not to be there, are you kidding? After performing on the European Summer Festival circuit, Chickenfoot are taking a few weeks off before starting their first North American Tour in support of their self titled debut album, which peaked at #4 on The Billboard Top 200 Chart and #3 on The Rock Chart.
