CHI MCBRIDE ENTERTAINS IN PRISON
Chi McBride stars as Barry, the leader of the toughest prison gang, the G Lords in Let’s Go To Prison who likes the finer things in life even though he’s behind bars. |
At 6’5” the principal star of such TV series as Boston Public cut an imposing figure especially in the prison showers. Chi says even though the film is a comedy kids should realize that prison is anything but funny. |
“Barry is just a guy who’s used to running things and getting his way. He pays for things with contraband fancies himself to be a bit of a dandy. He’s got a picture of Oscar Wilde in his cell, makes Merlot in the toilet. That’s just who the guy is, he’s a smooth operator.” |
“When you’re shooting in a prison you really get a sense of how claustrophobic and how terrible a place it is. I hope when kids watch this you get a laugh but take notice of the size of them cells. I don’t want to be in the Four Seasons if I can’t leave. A prison, no thanks. You know what the real ironic thing is when you walk in the place you see a sign that says welcome. Welcome to the penitentiary!” |
