CHI MCBRIDE ENTERTAINS IN PRISON

Chi McBride stars as Barry, the leader of the toughest prison gang, the G Lords in Let’s Go To Prison who likes the finer things in life even though he’s behind bars.

At 6’5” the principal star of such TV series as Boston Public cut an imposing figure especially in the prison showers. Chi says even though the film is a comedy kids should realize that prison is anything but funny.

“Barry is just a guy who’s used to running things and getting his way. He pays for things with contraband fancies himself to be a bit of a dandy. He’s got a picture of Oscar Wilde in his cell, makes Merlot in the toilet. That’s just who the guy is, he’s a smooth operator.”

“When you’re shooting in a prison you really get a sense of how claustrophobic and how terrible a place it is. I hope when kids watch this you get a laugh but take notice of the size of them cells. I don’t want to be in the Four Seasons if I can’t leave. A prison, no thanks. You know what the real ironic thing is when you walk in the place you see a sign that says welcome. Welcome to the penitentiary!”
