Chamillionaire’s major label debut, Sound of Revenge, made an impressive debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The set sold more than 130,000 copies to land at Number Ten on the pop chart. The rapper is currently prepping the next single from the album, “Ridin” featuring Krayzie Bone. |
Prior to the release of his debut album, we aksed Chamillionaire if he thought he might be victimized by consumers getting tired of the Houston rap movement. He said, |
“Yeah that’s always a concern, some people don’t look at it that way but I definitely do. I see a lot of stuff now that to us is cool like gold grills. That’s cool. That’s cool to us we’ve been doing that for awhile but now it’s getting to a point where a lot of stuff looks cheesy to me. I know once the little white kids everywhere and the commercial world starts to getting on it, it starts to become a fad almost. So it’s very possible that that could happen but you know I feel like I’m a career artist. I’mma be here regardless. That’s why I don’t have to get here on this hit record and scream I’m from Texas on every record.” |
