Houston-based rapper Chamillionaire decided to push back the release of his major label debut, The Sound Of Revenge, until November 22nd because he didn’t feel the album had an appropriate set-up time. Chamillionaire explained, |
The rapper knows a little bit about success as his independent projects including his joint album with Paul Wall, 2002’s Get Ya Mind Correct, sold over 100,000 copies each. |
“Yeah we was kinda a little worried about that at first ’cause we originally wanted to drop before, you know what I’m sayin’? Then I kinda like came to building like, ‘You know what I need to push my date back.’ I’m a realist, man, you know what I’m sayin? I have faith in my music but it’s not necessarily that. Sometimes it’s the set-up. Sometimes stuff got to be right. You know I’m a smart judge of when it’s right and when it’s not, you know what I mean? So I just kinda like wanted to put more steam behind it cause I know I got the underground following. It’s crazy. I think that’s gonna shock a lot of people. A lot of people out there watching don’t even realize how big my underground fanbase is, you know, but it was just all about transferring that over to the mainstream. So I had to be honest with myself and realize, ‘You know what it’s not there yet in the mainstream.'” |
The Sound Of Revenge features the production of Swizz Beatz, David Banner, Scott Storch, Mannie Fresh, Harley Davison, Cool & Dre, and Play N Skillz, and guest appearances by Lil’ Flip, Bun B, Scarface, Lil’ Wayne, Killer Mike, Krayzie Bone, and Pastor Troy. |
