Cedric The Entertainer plays Nighthawk in Talk To Me, a smooth talking music DJ from the 1960s whose style begins to get fazed out when a former con named Petey Green joins the radio station with his tell it like it is banter. |
Cedric says Petey started a new wave in radio. |
“And I think that probably would qualify as what would be a shock jock or someone who is controversial with the things that they say. And it’s not really just politically correct and moving along. It was just a smart move and probably one of the best moves for radio in general because now you start to see it as a form for people to get their voice out.” |
Cedric says Petey Green was the right voice at the right time. |
“Understanding in the sixties, so much turbulence going on. I mean you’re talking about great leaders being assassinated, people that are beloved by the American public as a whole. And you have accusations that’s inside our own country, who did this and who did what to this person. There’s a lot of distrust and to have a voice, to have someone come on and just kind of give it to you raw and honest.” |
Cedric hopes Talk To Me will open doors to more dramatic roles, but he hasn’t abandoned comedy just yet. Next he stars with Martin Lawrence in The Better Man. |
