CECE WINANS BOUNCES BACK AFTER LOSING HER BROTHER

CeCe Winans has had a tough couple of years. Last year the singer was forced to have emergency surgery after an operation to remove a benign tumor resulted in an infection and earlier this year she lost her older brother Ronald Winans to cancer after an eight year battle.

Winans overcame the hardships to release a critically acclaimed new album, Purified, which has sold more than 129,000 copies since its release.

“You know yeah, you know, I think everything after my brother’s been gone has been special you know in a way because you always think about him in these moments. He was always there for me. Always cheering me on, he was always one of my greatest fans so I know he’s up in heaven cheering me on now.”

Winans was also nominated for two Grammy Awards this week. She was nominated in the best gospel performance category for her hit, “Pray,” and she will square off against her brother BeBe Winans in the best contemporary soul gospel album category.

After receiving the Grammy nominations, Winans shared how much she missed her brother because he was her biggest cheerleader. The singer said,
