Chan Marshall, known professionally as Cat Power, has put together her touring band for 2007, The Dirty Delta Blues Band and after a tremendously successful 2006 with her release ‘The Greatest’, Cat is poised for more breakout success in 2007. After stunning audiences around the world with her vocal and stage presence fronting Cat Power and The Memphis Rhythm Band in 2006, Marshall has formed The Dirty Delta Blues band with old pals Judah Bauer and Jim White and the band is gearing up to hit the road. Besides fronting the band with her amazingly soulful voice Cat more than holds her own performing as a solo artist with just her guitar or piano. |
We caught up with Cat recently to talk about the difference for her performing live with her band or performing as a solo artist. |
“Usually when I’m by myself I can control the tempo and I have more time to make changes and improvise a little bit more with tempo and vocals and stuff. But when I’m with the band I kind of just get on their train because they’re so good. It’s much funner to play with the band and alone it’s much more like I’m not there kind of.” |
Cat Power and the Dirty Delta Blues band closed out the year with a New Years show in Los Angeles with The Flaming Lips and Gnarls Barkley. Cat is next scheduled to perform at Langerado Music Festival in Sunshine Florida on March 11th. |
