CASEY AFFLECK KIDS AROUND WITH BRAD PITT
Casey Affleck became the brunt of Brad Pitt’s practical joke in The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. |
Casey Affleck portrays Robert Ford, the man who became known for the assassination of the notorious gun slinger Jesse James in The Assassination of Jesse James by The Coward Robert Ford. |
Casey’s character worships Brad Pitt’s Jesse James in the film but Brad has a way of diffusing that attention. Like his friend George Clooney, Brad is notorious for playing practical jokes on his co-stars which Casey experienced for himself. |
“That’s one of his big jokes that he likes to do not after a take but before the take. Right before they say action Brad will put ash on you or light your pants on fire or just slap you. That’s a good way to start the scene. You know Brad’s fun man. He’s really fun to work with. It’s strange how he can stay in character and do his thing but also put ash in your hat right before they say action and be really, really funny off camera and then be so good on camera also.” |
As legend goes Robert Ford worshipped Jesse James collecting stories about him and doing whatever he could to ride with his gang. Casey talks about how he got inside the character. |
“There’s a lot written about Jesse James and what was important to Robert Ford was Jesse James and he read everything there was to read about him from all the newspaper articles, all the comic books, anything he could get his hands on. So to kind of get in the head of Robert Ford all I had to do was know everything I could about Jesse James which is what I did.” |
For his next film, Casey acts with his brother Ben who is behind the camera in Gone Baby Gone. |
