C MURDER CONVICTION OVERTURNED
The Louisiana Supreme Court overturned Corey “C-Murder” Miller’s murder conviction last week in which the rapper was found guilty of shooting and killing 16-year-old Steven Thomas inside of a the Platinum Club in Louisiana in January 2002. |
During Miller’s September 2003 trial, several witnesses testified for the prosecution identifying Miller as the shooter in the night club. He was held on $2million dollars bail, which was later revoked after police claimed he bribed officers to smuggle in a cell phone he used to call and intimidate witnesses. |
The New Orleans rapper was found guilty and appealed the verdict. During his appeal hearing in December a woman testified for the prosecution saying that she did not see Miller actually shoot Thomas, but witnessed “Calliope Slim” with a gun right before the shooting. |
The rapper filed a request for a new trial in February 2006, which was granted. It is currently unknown whether prosecutors will retry the case. He is currently free on bond. |
