BUCKCHERRY STILL STRONG ON ALBUM CHARTS
Buckcherry may not be the flavor of the month, but their straight ahead rock record is currently at Number 54 on the Billboard 200 album charts, a jump from Number 67. The sales are coming on the heels of “Crazy Bitch,” which has been sanitized for commercial airplay. The song can still be heard on various platforms in its intended form. |
Buckcherry left the scene after breaking up in 2002, but reformed and recorded their new album 15, last year. The band back then was a throwback to the good-time rock and roll that preceded them, and guitarist Keith Nelson talked about breaking through as a rock band in a sea of rap rock and nu-metal. |
“We just basically try to stick to what it is we felt is what we did naturally. When we came out Limp Bizkit was huge and Korn was huge, and I think the Lilith Fair was happening, so there really wasn’t the market or the landscape for a rock and roll band — a bunch of dudes with tatoos just kind of playing straight up rock. So we kind of had to deal with that from the beginning, and now when you see other bands come around and obviously we know they’ve got the first record or two… It’s cool, I mean it’s flattering, but it also raises the bar for us because they’re young and they’re hungry and they’re pusing it as well so it makes us stay on top of our game.” |
Buckcherry is currently on a headline tour, and dates are scheduled through June 17 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. |
