BUCKCHERRY SIGNED BY ATLANTIC RECORDS

Buckcherry has fought their way back to the big label after being dropped by Interscope records a few years back. The band has signed on with Atlantic Records, who will now take over distribution of their independent smash, 15. The band’s management, 10th Street, independently released the effort, and both the album and the success of the single, “Crazy Bitch,” have defied critics, those who allegedly “make” the music scene, and music industry business experts. |
The band’s never say die attitude has pushed them into the big leagues, and guitarist Keith Nelson said it comes down to them being dedicated to being a band. |
“There’s a certain amount of… You kind of have to see who’s for real and who are just bullshitting. There are a lot of guys running around saying they want to be in a band, but it really takes a special breed of human being to see it through and get it across the finish line.” |
Nelson added that their believe in their music never wavered, and they’re proud to elicit a strong reaction — for or against. |
“We just believed in what we were doing the whole time. It just seemed like, ‘Why wouldn’t it work?’ And as soon as we started playing shows, and we saw the reaction people were having. It was definitely the kind of band at the time where had to have a reaction. You couldn’t not have one. You either loved us or you hated us. And when you see people respond passionately one way of the the other, it’s a sign you’re on to something. I think our first show was at Ally’s Bar in L.A., which is a famous punk club, and people were in their Weezer outfits with their glasses and their sweaters and they were laughing at us. If you can make those kind of kids laugh, then you’re definitely rockin’ ’em.” |
Buckcherry’s 15 is their third release following 1999’s self-titled debut and their sophomore release, Time Bomb, which was released in 2002. |
