BRYAN ADAMS SAYS OLD WINS OVER NEW ON TOUR
Bryan Adams admits that his older songs win out over a lot of newer songs, especially in a live setting. |
Bryan Adams admitted that some of his newer material is not as good as some of his older songs. Adams, who pretty much wrote the soundtrack for many in the 1980s with songs like “Run To You,” “Cuts Like A Knife,” and “Summer of 69,” said that he’s still proud of those songs. |
Adams is working on a new album, but he said that his forthcoming tour will pretty much mirror his recent anthology release. |
“Like the Anthology, which I put out last year, it’s kind of a Best Of with a few songs thrown in there that sort of… You wouldn’t think they’d be added to the set, but they work in the context of the rest of the songs. I play the songs people like, and they’re the songs I like as well.” |
Some artists are too proud to have their set consist of mostly older material, and load up with the new album. Adams said that fans will never leave disappointed at his shows. |
“No, if I thought some of my new songs were as good as some of the old ones I’d play them all the time. I think there are some new songs that are good. This one’s good, there are a couple of songs off my last album that work really well that work. I don’t think you can throw a whole new album at people and expect them to be thrilled with it because some people do come to see you for the songs they know.” |
Meanwhile, Adams is working on a collection of all new material that he’s hoping to release in June. |
Bryan Adams is currently on tour and will visit NYC’s Beacon Theater on January 11. He’ll then embark on a European tour next month. |
