Bryan Adams has once again been tabbed as a nominee for a Golden Globe for his song “Never Gonna Break My Faith.” The awards take place in Los Angeles on January 15. The song was written specifically for the movie “Bobby,” Emilio Estevez’s movie about the influence of the late Robert Kennedy who was gunned down in 1968. |
Adams talked about how he got involved writing the “Never Gonna Break My Faith”. |
“Uh, it came about because I met with Harvey Weinstein in a restaurant in New York, and he came up to me and said, ‘I’ve got a project for you. I need you to write me a song.’ You know, ‘Get Adams the picture! So I saw the picture, and I sent him an idea or two. Anytime you’re working on a picture it’s always going to be a labor of love. Finding the right angle was difficult, particularly when you’re working with the subject matter about an assassination. How do you make the song work in that context? It’s tough.” |
He also talked about working with both Aretha Franklin and leading Grammy Nominee Mary J. Blige whose vocals are featured on the track. |
“Unbelievable. When I found out that Aretha Franklin was singing I nearly wet myself. And then I heard that Mary J was gonna do it as well, well I don’t even want to tell you what happened then. To hear the two of them singing together is truly, truly extraordinary. I’ve always been very, very honored when anyone has sung my songs, but when it’s two singers that I respect as much as that, you…I can’t believe it.” |
Bryan Adams “Never Gonna Break My Faith” from the movie Bobby is up against songs from Dreamgirls by Beyonce, Home Of The Brave by Sheryl Crow, Prince from Happy Feet, and The Pursuit Of Happyness from Seal. |
Adams has been nominated four other times. While he’s never won, his best chances came in 1991 for “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” from Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves and in 1995 for “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman” from Don Juan DeMarco. |
