BRITISH STAR TOBY JONES SOUNDS LIKE TRUMAN CAPOTE
(VIDEO) British star Toby Jones took voice lessons to sound like In Cold Blood writer Truman Capote for the film Infamous. |
British actor Toby Jones takes on the daunting task of playing the essential American writer Truman Capote in Infamous, which is a slightly different take on the flamboyant writer’s life than Capote starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. Toby took painstaking voice lessons repositioning his tongue to get Capote’s unique vocal quality down. |
Sandra Bullock stars as Nelle Harper Lee most famous for writing To Kill A Mockingbird who joins Capote in the film on his quest to uncover the truth in Texas about the grisly Clutter family murders which inspired his novel In Cold Blood. She talks about Toby never breaking character. |
“Like most actors you work very hard at voice, the body, the biography but primarily with the scenes and you try to constantly hope that all of those things come together without impeding you from playing what is essentially a new story. It’s a new version of events.” |
Infamous opens Friday in theaters nationwide.rn |
“Since Toby and I have been in the same room with each other he’s never been anything other than Truman. I mean at the end of the day Toby comes through but I never see him being anything other than Truman even. He has to maintain his voice and that’s really difficult to maintain so he doesn’t drop out of it too much in order not to lose it.” |
