The famed Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood California held the press conference on March 4th, 2008 announcing Rocklahoma’s 2nd Annual 80’s Rock Festival. The press conference, which was hosted by VH1 and XM Satellite Radio VJ Eddie Trunk, featured Bret Michaels lead vocalist for Poison, Warrant featuring original lead vocalist Jani Lane, Cinderella, LA Guns, Beautiful Creatures, XYZ, Pretty Boy Floyd and Lynch Mob. |
Rocklahoma is the world’s largest Rock Festival of its type and fans of 80’s Rock will have 4 days, from July 10-13, 2008, in Pryor Oklahoma, to check out sets from Bret Michaels solo band, Warrant, XYZ, Armored Saint, Kingdom Come, Night Ranger, Extreme, Triumph, Pretty Boy Floyd, Every Mother’s Nightmare, Tora Tora, Axe, Beautiful Creatures, Black N Blue, and Tesla, with more acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Two side stages adjacent to the main stage will also feature over twenty-eight regional artists on each stage. At the press conference, Bret Michaels talked about how much fun he had at last year’s inaugural event. |
“This feels like great times and I don’t ever want to use the word ‘Old times.’ It’s right here, right now and Rocklahoma is an awesome event and we had such an amazing time last year. Great Summer party and here’s what was killer about it, every fan came from all over the United States, Canada and the world basically and I can say this, I went in there with the same attitude and approached it since playing on this very stage in ’85, ’86 and that was to go out there and play music the way it’s meant to be played. You crank up the amps and everyone has an awesome time.” |
We caught up with Joey Allen and Steven Sweet of Warrant to get their thoughts on performing at Rocklahoma this Summer with all the original members once again. |
“Rocklahoma is going to be huge this year. Last year it was big. It was kind of like a high school reunion for a lot of the bands because we all kind of came out of the same place, which is why we’re all at The Whiskey A Go Go right now. The things that have happened in this room! The big thing that’s big for us is that we’re coming out, for the first time in 14 years, with all the original members again with Jani Layne on vocals. That makes it a little different this year for us in 2008 at Rocklahoma and we’re excited. We’re excited to be going on when it’s dark and a little cooler.” |
Rocklahoma will take place at the Catch the Fever Festival grounds in Pryor, Oklahoma and fans will have the amenities of thousands of campgrounds and RV parking, a general store and plenty of activities and vendors to keep oneself busy for the extended party weekend. |
