BRAD PITT TOUTS STRENGTH OF A MIGHTY HEART
Brad Pitt wanted to make the story A Mighty Heart into a film because it carried a message of strength. |
When Brad Pitt bought the rights to Mariane Pearl’s book A Mighty Heart it was with the intention to produce the film with his company Plan B Entertainment as a possible starring vehicle for his then wife Jennifer Aniston. |
Of course those plans fell through in more ways than one but Brad never gave up on the project and he explains why. |
“I was really taken with Mariane’s strength at this time and the way she spoke to us as a public and the way she spoke to the people who held her husband. Then getting the book and getting to know her better it’s this profound and firm belief that we need journalism to really understand the dynamics and complexities of the situation before we can make informed decisions. And without it we’re rudderless.” |
Brad says A Mighty Heart can set an example for dealing with human atrocities in the wake of terrorism. |
“It’s the strength in the face of real evil. It’s this idea of in this taking, this kidnapping and murder of Daniel Pearl which was meant to divide and separate and cause fear. It actually worked in the opposite way. It brought people together from different faiths and different cultures and this is a world that I’d like to see and then back to journalism. They believed in the dialogue that journalism creates and without it we’re gonna be a mess.” |
A Mighty Heart opens Friday in theaters. |
